Bruce Dickinson has made an unexpected change to his diet since beating tongue cancer, because he can no longer taste sugar.
The veteran rocker was diagnosed with the disease in late 2014, and he underwent intense radiation therapy to treat his tumour.
He was declared cancer-free in the spring of 2015, but Bruce will never forget how drained he was throughout the whole medical process.
“It’s genuinely amazing that you can feel that beyond tired and fatigued,” he told Kerrang.com. “And this is me, who’s usually a little ball of energy bouncing off the walls!”
Bruce is thankful to have bounced back from the health crisis, but he reveals his taste buds never fully recovered – and now he has lost his taste for sweet treats.
However, the 58-year-old insists it’s a small price to pay to be free of cancer, quipping, “It’s a fucking great result just to be alive, to be honest with you.”
